All about Flip Flops: Would you wear them or not?

zoes-havaianas-0042They call it flip flops, sandals, tsinelas, name it. Filipinos wear them for centuries now. From brands like Spartan and Islander, tsinelas has now evolved into a fashionable item. Hence the name “flip flops” was coined. Today, flip flops have become an ubiquitous footwear.

Teenagers and adults wear them… and even babies now have the chance to own a pair. In fact, they come in unique styles and colors. Flip flops are better known by the most common brand names such as  Havaianas and Ipanema. And I know a lot of people who are a fan  of the said brands. But some people do not really fancy wearing one. My bestfriend was even surprised to know that they have their own shops here, “All Flip Flops,” a mecca of all things Havaianas. They have shops in malls and the one in High Street is open until 11:00 pm. My bestfriend is a “New Yorker” now, so she’d rather wear shoes that would keep her feet warm. 🙂

Well, I used to hate flip flops too. Not that I hate them but I just didn’t like the idea of wearing it on malls or wherever. Things changed. I think Filipinos would still crave for a footwear that would make them feel comfortable. Something that we’ve known for the longest time. Only that they’re even better now (especially with a tag price like that).

How about you? Would you rather wear a flip flop or put on your stiletto at malls?

Me? Depends. For groceries, flip flops are more comfy. Not on shopping though. It’s better to wear a stiletto to compliment the wicked dress/top/pants that I would want to buy. 😉

And of course, I wouldn’t dare wearing them on gimicks especially on dates with husband dear. 🙂

Well I have read a scientific study that flip-flops hurt the feet most rather than any other footwear. The reason?….The feet exerts much pressure to keep the flip-flop in proper position with the feet thus, causing small but accumulative injuries in a person’s feet .

    Hope I made sense…

Flip-Flops are okay, as long as their not the ones coming from China with lotsa Lead content. It’ll def’nitely ruin your precious feet. Ugh…
